Marubeni Seafoods Sustainability Policy and Initiatives

Marubeni Seafoods Corporation, a member of the Marubeni Group, has been developing its activities based on the management philosophy of aiming to be a proud corporate group that contributes to economic and social development and global environmental conservation through fair and transparent corporate activities by the spirit of our company motto ‘Right, New, Harmony.’ Sustainability for Marubeni Seafoods is to fulfill our responsibility as a seafood processing and sales company directly linked to consumers to provide a stable supply of safe and secure seafood from production sites to household tables and to enhance corporate value by enriching people's lives and the lives of our employees.
As a distributor of processed and marine products, Marubeni Seafoods benefits from the global environment and its limited marine resources. However, as marine pollution and the depletion of marine resources have become global issues, we believe it is essential to establish a sustainable supply chain for marine products to protect the marine environment while ensuring the stable delivery of safe and secure marine resources to people's tables and the enrichment of people and the planet as a whole.

Establishment of materiality (key issues)

SDG POSTER AND INDIVIDUAL GOALS
Based on this recognition of environmental and social issues, and based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015, we have identified the most important fundamental elements of the Fundamental Materiality to put our management philosophy into practice and enhance our corporate value by enriching people's lives and the lives of our employees. We have identified fundamental materiality as the most crucial element in implementing our management philosophy and enhancing our corporate value by enriching people's lives and the lives of our employees. We have also identified the expectations of our stakeholders (producers, consumers, employees, and the global environment) and the areas in which Marubeni Seafoods can contribute to sustainability through our business activities, organized into the following three categories, which we have designated as “Environmental and Social Materialities for Sustainability.”

Base Materiality

At Marubeni Seafoods, our mission is not merely to deliver marine resources from around the world but to enrich people's lives through food. To this end, we believe in the importance of “human relations,” in which every employee cooperates while always keeping the consumers and producers in mind. To maximize the power of each employee and create new value equals “creativity,” we believe it is essential to provide opportunities for “activities” that expand the stage of activity and strengthen the company's efforts to create opportunities for “humanity” to open up the future. For this purpose, we consider that the base materiality is to develop an environmental infrastructure that allows every employee to maximize their potential.
